Some People May Have More Advantages Than You And Why It’s Ok

In this blog post I’m going to tell you why it’s ok if other people have more advantages than you and why you shouldn’t be bitter about it. Enjoy.

My Life Void Of Advantages

Growing up things weren’t always easy. Things that other people had much of my family didn’t. You could say that other kids my age grew up with more advantages than I did. Maybe because of where they lived, or what their parents did or whatever. It was fair to say that other people had more advantages than I did. When I grew older this became more apparent even at football training and matches. I can count on one hand the amount of times my dad came to one of my matches, talkless of my mum. I would see many other kid’s parents on the sidelines cheering them on. After the match they would drive home with their parents. I stayed and waited for the coach to finish talking to the ref and the other coaches and drive me home because my parents didn’t feel the need to take me. The Victim mindset was still intact.

The Beginning Of Something New

Fast forward to college and I am yet again put into a situation that forces me to examine myself even more. I am the only black kid in my class and a lot of the people in my year are extremely intelligent. However, things have changed for me mentally. After a long hard look at what my life has been like thus far and watching my mentors in self development, I begin to question myself. I wondered if I will continue blaming things outside of myself for where I am. I wondered if I will stop hating on people who have more advantages than me. Through all of this and some guidance from my mentors I came to a revelation that has since changed my life:

If other people have more advantages than you that’s fine. If you have to work harder than them, then WORK HARDER THAN THEM!

Some People May Have More Advantages Than You And Why It’s Ok

A lot of us, including myself have been making excuses and pointing to people that have it better than us and looking for someone to blame for why it’s not fair. NEWSFLASH! That’s life. It might not be as easy for you as it is for others. ACCEPT IT. I know it’s a bitter pill to swallow but you need to. If you don’t, you’ll forever be bitter about the adVANTAGES YOU didn’t have. I’d rather do what I need to do and live the life I want to live than sit there bitter about it. If there’s something that you want and you may not have all the advantages then make peace that realisation. Make peace with the fact that you don’t have all of the advantages.

Final Message

You see, when someone complains about how hard it is for them, they are really taking the responsibility off of themselves. They are blaming outside things for their circumstances because it makes them feel better about not achieving. DON’T be like that. Use this as a call out to yourself. Tell yourself that you’re not going to make excuses for why you aren’t achieving what God put you here to achieve. Get up and do what is required, to achieve that result. You owe it to yourself. Once you do this you will start seeing results, I promise you.
